Area of Interest 3 is for novel combustion and post-combustion mercury
control technologies capable of achieving at least 70 percent (above
baseline)
mercury removal at 25 percent or less of the baseline cost. The baseline
cost
estimate is $60,000 per lb of mercury removed. This area of interest
allows
for bench through pilot-scale testing.

Area of Interest 3 is reserved for novel mercury control technologies that
are not ready for full-scale field testing at this time. As such,
technologies that are being (or have been) tested at the full-scale level
will be considered non-responsive for testing under Area of Interest 3.
